Motherwell will face Hibernian in the Scottish Cup fifth round next weekend

Motherwell will travel to Easter Road to face Hibernian in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.

The Steelmen progressed against Morton on Friday night with a penalty shoot-out win after a tense 1-1 draw.

This afternoon, Hibs set up the mouth-watering clash against the Steelemen with an emphatic 4-0 win over Stranraer at Stair Park.

Motherwell claimed a 2-0 win on their last trip to Easter Road (SNS Group)

Goals from Christian Doidge, Kevin Nisbet and a double from Martin Boyle ensured Jack Ross' side sealed their place in the next round.

The tie is scheduled to be played on the weekend of Saturday, 24 April with the clash likely to be televised.

Motherwell have enjoyed their trips to the capital this season and are unbeaten in their two visits to Leith.

They were unlucky to draw 0-0 against the Hibees in August under Stephen Robinson and they claimed a 2-0 win in their last visit in February.

There is extra importance to this year's Scottish Cup with the winners guaranteed to play European football until December which is a huge incentive to clubs.
