Motherwell to discover Europa League pathway next week

Motherwell are likely to discover their Europa League plans next week, as the UEFA executive committee holds a video conferencing meeting next week.

The meeting will be in two parts, and will run from 12pm-3pm on Wednesday, June 17 and from 9am-11am on Thursday.

Amongst the topics that are up for discussion in the first meeting are the conclusion of this season's Champions League and Europa League competitions, plus the qualifying phase, play-offs and group stages of next season's competitions.

Details of their findings will be issued during an online press conference, attended by UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin, at the end of the first day of the committee meeting, at around 3pm CET.

Motherwell finished third in last season's Premiership, and it will be a welcome return to European competition for them, having last featured in the second qualifying round against Sjarnan in July 2014, losing 5-4 on aggregate.

A Josh Law double earned them a 2-2 draw at Fir Park, and despite Stevie Hammell and Lionel Ainsworth scoring over in Iceland, they lost 3-2.

Motherwell had led 2-0 at Fir Park and took the lead in Iceland, only to crash out.
