Motherwell to discover Europa League opponents

Motherwell will discover their Europa League first qualifying round opponents when the draw is made on August 10.

The competition has been reduced to one leg, with home advantage being established by the luck of the draw, and the tie takes place on August 27.

Motherwell qualified after finishing third in the Premiership and will attempt to become the first Scottish club outside of Celtic and Rangers to reach the Europa League group stages, though they face quite a task in doing so. Aberdeen, who finished fourth in the Premiership, will be in the same bracket.

Should the Fir Park side emerge victorious from the first qualifying round, they will go into the second and third qualifying round draws on August 31 and September 1, respectively.

The second qualifying round itself will be staged on September 17.

The play-off draw is the following day, with the third qualifying round being played on September 24. The play-off to enter the group stages is on October 1.

It will be interesting to see if Motherwell go into European competition with manager Stephen Robinson at the helm, as he is to be interviewed for the vacant Northern Ireland job.
