Motherwell talking points as Stephen Robinson's side grab another good win

Motherwell grabbed another good Premiership win as they convincingly beat Livingston 2-0 at the Tony Macaroni Arena yesterday, rocketing them up to seventh place.

It was a deserved win from a game in which they dominated, and in reality they could have scored a few more goals.

But it will be the nature of the victory that will have pleased fans, who will be much happier with their lot than earlier this season.

Here are some talking points from a good win on the road.

Motherwell are taking their chances

Callum Lang looked like a man with all the confidence in the world as he bore down on Livingston's goal for Motherwell's opener, and Tony Watt showed terrific instinct to be in the right place at the right time when Max Stryjek parried Mark O'Hara's free kick for their second.

The game was done and dusted by the interval as a result of that, and they've now scored six goals in their last two games, having not played for nearly a month before that - and have won four out of their last five league games.

Fair enough, they could and probably should have scored more goals in West Lothian, but they didn't need to.

They're looking solid at the back

Going back to that stat of four wins in their last five league games, Motherwell have done so without conceding a single goal.

They beat St Johnstone 1-0, triumphed 3-0 up at Aberdeen, put four past Ross County last weekend and emerged with a 2-0 at Liivingston, which is a far cry from their early-season form.

They were rarely troubled at the Tony Macaroni Arena yesterday and dealt well with everything that was thrown their way.

Their one defeat was a 5-1 defeat at home to a Rangers side that has shown quite a bit of form recently.

Top six looks like a possibility

Liam Polworth looks pleased with another good win (Bill Murray/SNS Group)

Motherwell jumped up to seventh place with their win over Livingston, and they're currently level on points with Kilmarnock in sixth, who play against Rangers later today.

The Steelmen are moving in the right direction and they have two games in hand against Killie and St Mirren, games in which you'd fancy their chances, which could give them an advantage and a lead over some of their rivals.

Certainly on this form you can see this potentially being another impressive season for Stephen Robinson's side.
