Kaiyne Woolery says Motherwell boss Graham Alexander sold him on a move to the Premiership club.
And the 26-year-old says he wants to settle down and enjoy his football, which could be good news for fans of the Fir Park club.
Woolery, who has signed a three-year deal at Fir Park, climbed off the bench with Motherwell trailing 2-1 to Queen of the South in their Premier Sports Cup Group F tie on Saturday, and completely changed the game, scoring the clincher as the Steelmen won 3-2 to go top of the section.
It was an impressive performance for a player who admits he's not at peak fitness quite yet, and that could spell good things for Graham Alexander's side.
"I like change to be honest," said Woolery, reflecting that this is his 12th club. "When I was younger I wasn't really playing, I was at quite a high level, and I wanted to go and play every week, instead of just sitting on the bench, because that's how you develop more.
"I want to settle here. Before I came here I spoke to the gaffer and he sold it to me, pretty much.
"He said the facilities are great, the boys are good, hence why I signed for such a long time.
"He used to be the manager of Scunthorpe and Salford and I think every time I [played against them] I ripped them apart!
"I finally get to work with him, now.
"He said he had the best left-back in the league [at Salford] and he said I destroyed him, so he said he had always had his eye on me since then."

Former Bolton, Swindon and Tranmere Rovers hit man Woolery says he doesn't want to be on the bench this season, even in an 'impact' role, but says that will come with fitness.
He said: "The gaffer told me yesterday [Friday] he was going to rest me anyway, because he didn't know what I did in the off-season; all these boys had a programme that Motherwell had set them, and I didn't really do too much, so I was a little bit behind on fitness when I came.
"He's looking after me and a few other players, and I think he's going to rotate us. It all depends on my performance as well, so if I play well I hope to be in the team.
"My long-term ambition is hopefully to score quite a few goals for Motherwell and help the team.
"The better I do for the team, the better the team does for me - it's better for everyone.
"It's the top division in Scotland, you play against good teams and the facilities are good here, the manager's good, he has a good record in England, and he wants to play football.
"He said when he came in last season that he would have finished third if he had been in charge at the start of the season, so that was a selling point as well. It showed that he can win games.

"The manager showed confidence in me, so hopefully I can repay him and perform on the pitch for him."
Woolery was pleased with his performance and in grabbing six points that put Motherwell in pole position in Group F.
"It was 2-1 when I came on, the manager said to try and change the game, try to get the boys playing up further in their half and maybe get a goal.
"It's like a new team, there are a lot of new players as well, and I think we're all still trying to gel together, but I think that showed that we can actually play for each other.
"That's two wins, it makes the group a little bit easier, so hopefully we can get through to the next round."
