Motherwell striker and ex Celtic star Tony Watt nets fantastic sum for foodbank with shirt fundraiser

Tony Watt has raised over £4,000 for a local foodbank after raffling off his match shirt from Motherwell's win over Ross County.

The 'Well striker was on top form in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Staggies, bagging the opener at Fir Park and playing a role in the rest of the goals at Fir Park.

It was a performance that led boss Stephen Robinson to describe him as "unplayable" and, following his best performance in claret and amber, the former Celtic star decided to do his bit for the local community in these testing times.

On Saturday night, Watt posted on his Twitter page: "Time to give back! I’m giving my match worn top away. All you have to do is donate £2 and leave your name

I’ll use a raffle to pick a winner at the start of the week. For every retweet this gets before 12 tonight I’ll donate 10p."

Steelmen fans rallied round and helped Watt smash his original £1000 target with more than 600 donations to his crowdfunding page.

Watt has picked the lucky winner of his shirt and will now send the cash to a worthy cause in the Motherwell community.
