Motherwell starlet beats John McGinn to Scotland Goal of the Year award

Motherwell's Lennon Miller has scooped the Scotland Goal of the Year award after his stunning shot from the halfway line against England.

The 15-year-old midfielder was up against senior ace John McGinn's spectacular goal against Austria, Caroline Weir's strike against Cyprus, Erin Cuthbert v Faroe Islands, Claire Emslie v Faroe Islands, Alex Lowry v Croatia and Ben Williamson's effort against Northern Ireland.

While Scotland's youth side eventually lost 3-2 to England back in August, Miller made it a day to remember.

He picked the ball up around 50 yards from goal and his effort went sailing into the net to claim the nation's best goal of 2021 after a public vote.

The 'Well midfielder is part of the club's U18s squad and his dad is current East Kilbride and former Scotland forward Lee Miller.

He said: "Can’t quite get my head round this. For Lennon to be nominated was amazing. But for him to win it is crazy!! Wow!

"Super proud dad. Thank you everyone for voting."
