Motherwell star's 'second language' joke as he eyes defensive partnership

Motherwell star Ricki Lamie is pleased with two of the club's most recent signings at opposite ends of the pitch, and joked that he might learn a second language from one of them.

Boss Graham Alexander has brought in Norwegian star Sondre Solholm Johansen in defence, and re-signed former Hearts striker Jordan Roberts.

Johansen is likely to play alongside Lamie in defence, while Roberts has joined after enjoying a successful loan spell last season.

Lamie is pleased with the opportunity to play alongside both stars, and says they've slotted straight in to life at Fir Park.

He said: “When someone comes in, you always hope they’ll produce the goods on the pitch, but that they’re a top boy off it as well, and Robbo ticks both boxes.

“He’s been a great character on and off the pitch. It’s good to get him back in, and he gives us that extra attacking option as well, so happy days.

“I’m hoping to maybe pick up a second language at some point [from Johansen], but the two of them have come in with a good pedigree and are two great guys as well.

“Sondre has great English as well, which is always impressive, and he’s fitted in very well – he’s a big, strong character.

“It’s always good to get the numbers up, defensively, as well, to get the competition and it can only be a good thing.

“Jordan has been there and done it with the manager and the boys as well, so it’s a matter of keeping the positive results going.”
