Motherwell striker Kevin Van Veen sat down with manager Graham Alexander to see what he could provide the Steelmen as a minimum - and the Dutchman hopes more outings come through the middle off the back of it.
The Dutchman netted a brace last Saturday as the Fir Park side downed Aberdeen 2-0 at Pittodrie in Premiership action. It came after he was dropped for the 6-1 defeat against Rangers the weekend previous.
It's the second and third time Van Veen has netted against Aberdeen this season, playing through the centre of Alexander's 4-3-3. He believes that suits his game.
“He spoke to me about what he wanted," said Van Veen. "I have been dropped out of the team for a reason. I have been playing a bit on the left but on Saturday I was back in the centre.
“That was my first start since St Johnstone earlier in the season. I prefer to be in the centre and I paid him back with a good performance and two goals.
"The conversation was that he wanted more from me to get back in the team. I have trained well and he paid me back by putting me in the team and I repaid him with two goals.

“That is three goals and an assist in two games. It is probably a team that suits me the best. My goals were good striker goals.
“The first was guided in the net and the second one was gambling on where the ball will drop and I put it in the net. “I am happy with the goals. Every goal as a striker feels good. It was two good striker’s goals.”
Motherwell needed a response to being thrashed against Rangers, and they certainly provided one at Pittodrie. Van Veen reckons it shows their character.
“Losing 6-1 against Rangers, they played us off the park if I am being honest," he added. “We showed character to pick ourselves up and to work like that and to make sure we are not going to lose again, the way we did.
“To win 2-0 against very good opposition it is credit to everybody, including the subs who came on. It showed the spirit and character of this team after some difficult results.
“In the game, Aberdeen are good opposition and play good football. The first half I was thinking how can we score or break them down.
"It took some well-disciplined performances from all of us to keep pressing them and pushing them and eventually it paid off with two good goals. We saw it out and I am very happy it worked out like that.”
