Motherwell star Declan Gallagher tipped to make the grade in England amid transfer talk

Motherwell centre-back Declan Gallagher has what it takes to make it in England, according to an ex-teammate.

Former Livingston pal Sean Crighton has tipped the Steelman for the very top of the game amid January transfer talk at Fir Park.

Boss Stephen Robinson faces a fight to hold on to Gallagher with Swansea, Wigan and Bristol City weighing up moves.

Peterborough and Charlton are also reported to be keen

Crighton reckons the centre-back would be a hit south of the border.

He said: “Physically for me Declan has that skill-set that you need to play in England and has plenty of talent to go to that level.

“When I played alongside him, you could tell he had the skill-set to play at a higher level. He had already played in the Premiership with Dundee when he came to Livingston, but to take that next step it has been a bit of a coming of age thing in my opinion.

“For me, in the position we play you get better with age.

“It’s not a surprise for me that he has been linked with some big clubs in England.

“He is seeing the rewards of his development now and if he gets that big move it would be great for him.”
