Motherwell sign Sam Foley from St Mirren in fourth January capture

Motherwell have completed their fourth new signing of the January window with the arrival of Sam Foley from Premiership rivals St Mirren.

The 34-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the season and he joins up with fellow new recruits goalkeeper Liam Kelly, winger Steven Lawless and striker Harry Smith, who all joined earlier this month.

Gaffer Graham Alexander added: “It’s great to finally get Sam over the line. We’re looking for players who suit how we want to play and improve the strength of our group.

“Sam has the ability, experience and motivation to help us and we look forward to working with him on a daily basis.”

Last night, Foley revealed he was leaving the Paisley club with an emotional post on Twitter, as he admitted he was "disappointed with the way things had gone this season", but called on fans to keep supporting the club during these difficult times.

With Motherwell idle this weekend, he will have to wait until at least Wednesday to make his debut in claret and amber when the Steelmen host Dundee United.

His arrival comes hot on the heels of striker Jordan White's permanent transfer to Ross County yesterday.
