Motherwell sign Finland international Juhani Ojala on two-year deal

Motherwell have completed the signing of Finland international Juhani Ojala on a two-year deal.

The 32-year-old joins from Danish top flight side Vejle and he will provide an experienced defensive option to Graham Alexander after impressing on trial.

Ojala has been capped 22 times by his country but he was a surprise omission from Finland's Euro 2020 squad this summer.

The centre-back, who will wear the number 14 shirt, could feature in the Steelmen's Premiership opener against Hibernian on Sunday, if he receives clearance.

'Well boss Alexander said: “We’re delighted to finally get Juhani on board after a while waiting for his work permit.

“After first speaking with him, I thought he was exactly the type of player and character we need at our club.

Graham Alexander said he hopes to bring a couple of players in ahead of the league kick-off (SNS Group)

“He’s captained his country and demonstrated what a good player and leader he is at a very good level.

“He was really excited about the opportunity to join us and we look forward to seeing him integrate into the squad. I’m certain he will be an excellent signing for us.”
