Motherwell sign ex-Rangers keeper Liam Kelly on loan

Motherwell have completed the signing of former Rangers goalkeeper Liam Kelly on loan from English Championship side Queen’s Park Rangers.

The former Glasgow Rangers and Livingston shot-stopper could make his debut in Saturday's trip to St Mirren.

The 24-year-old arrives hot on the heels of Jordan Archer's departure to Middlesbourgh and will wear the number 13 jersey, previously held by the Scotland cap.

With Trevor Carson out injured, Kelly will vye with Aaron Chapman and youngster PJ Morrison for a starting slot.

And he told the club website: “I’m grateful for the opportunity Motherwell have offered me.

“My objective is to play games. I know there’s strong competition here and I will have to earn my place.

“I’m ready and available when called upon. We’ve got a good squad and need to start picking up results.”

Interim boss Keith Lasley said: “Liam will strengthen our options in the goalkeeping department, with Jordan Archer having left us.

“He has already proven his ability at this level, playing a big part in Livingston’s success and also earning the recognition of an international call-up.”

Earlier today we told how Kelly's ex-gaffer Gary Holt believed the keeper would be a perfect fit for the Fir Park side and Kelly will now get his chance to impress on a deal until the end of the season.
