Motherwell sign Connor Shields on a three-year deal

Motherwell have announced their first signing of the summer in Connor Shields.

The 23 year-old joins the Steelmen on a free transfer after his contract expired at Queen of the South.

The Coatbridge man scored 11 goals for the Doonhamers during an impressive season in the Scottish Championship.

Motherwell manager Graham Alexander is expecting a busy summer and he's moved quickly to secure the services of Shields.

The former Sunderland forward is a versatile player and although he thrives playing as a central striker, he can also play wide.

Alexander expressed his delight at the signing to the Motherwell website: "“We’re very happy to bring Connor in to start our rebuilding for next season.

“He’s had a great year scoring goals in the Championship and we believe he has the potential to do the same in the top flight.

“He’s quick, works incredibly hard and is hungry to prove himself at a higher level.

“He now has that opportunity and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”
