Airdrie are set to announce the signing of former Motherwell's youngster Matthew McDonald.
The Fir Park academy graduate was released by the Steelmen at the end of last season but he's poised to sign for the Diamonds.
The 19-year-old has been training with Ian Murray's side for the past ten days and an announcement is expected imminently.
While McDonald can play at right-back, it's understood that Airdrie plan on using him in a midfield role and he could be set to play against his former club in the Premier Sports Cup in July.
Motherwell's academy is renowned for producing excellent footballers and Airdrie recently had success in picking up Kyle MacDonald from their Lanarkshire rivals.
Not the Old Firm revealed that McDonald was close to signing for Airdrie and he could play in this weekend's North Lanarkshire Cup at Broadwood.
