Motherwell's Mark O'Hara apologises after side suffer derby demolition against Hamilton

Motherwell midfielder Mark O'Hara has apologised to Steelmen fans after they suffered a third successive Lanarkshire derby defeat to Hamilton Accies.

It was a day to forget as the Fir Park outfit lost 4-1 at home to their rivals, finished the game with 10 men after Stephen O'Donnell's early red card and had manager Graham Alexander sent to the stand late on.

O'Hara, who netted a consolation from the penalty spot in the second half, told Motherwell's club media: "All we can do is apologise.

"The first half display wasn't good enough.

"We'll hopefully put it right in the coming weeks."

The defeat came just over a month after Motherwell suffered a painful 3-0 reverse at New Douglas Park.

They also lost the first game of the season when Hakeem Odoffin struck a late winner in a 1-0 win for Accies.

You have to go back to August 2019 for Motherwell's last derby success, when they won 3-1 at Hamilton.
