Motherwell offer goalkeeper new contract with interest mounting in stopper

Motherwell have offered goalkeeper PJ Morrison a new two-year contract extension, Lanarkshire Live Sport understands.

The goalkeeper has been out on multiple loans from Fir Park and is currently in League One with Alloa Athletic.

He has impressed enough to warrant his parent club offering him a new deal that would run until 2024.

A product of the club's academy, highly-rated Morrison is considering his options, with potential suitors both in Scotland and England.

But it's the Scottish Championship where the strongest interest resides in the 24-year-old.

Morrison has been in claret and amber since February 2009 but is yet to make a senior appearance for the Steelmen. A keeper with plenty of presence, he was part of Motherwell's Scottish FA Youth Cup-winning side in 2016.

He has experienced first-team football during loan spells with Clyde, Albion Rovers, Cowdenbeath and Falkirk, where he kept four clean sheets in eight games.

Alloa boss Brian Rice snapped him up on loan for the rest of the League One season earlier this year and he has kept two clean sheets in four games so far.

The Bellshill-born star's current contract expires at the end of the season.
