Motherwell No.2 and goalkeeper help tackle social isolation among elderly fans

Motherwell assistant boss Keith Lasley and goalkeeper Trevor Carson have given elderly fans a boost by calling them up for a chat during the coronavirus lockdown.

Pensioners over the age of 70 are in the category of those most at risk from the deadly virus and have been advised to stay indoors at all times.

The isolation can have huge impact our on the elderly, but Motherwell have reached out to their older fans to support them in these unprecedented and difficult times.

Lasley caught up with fans to check in on them last night and talk about old times at Fir Park.

And the Steelmen's goalkeeper, Trevor Carson, contacted an 86-year-old fan, who was 'buzzing' to take a call from the Northern Irishman.

Family members of those contacted by the Fir Park heroes took to Twitter last night to thank them for the kind gesture, as fans across Lanarkshire and beyond dream of a return to football action in the coming months.
