Motherwell martial arts club look to attract new members with physical boost

A martial arts club in Motherwell are on the lookout for new members.

Tukido Karate Club, based at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, train on a Monday and Thursday evenings from 7pm to 8pm.

The Martial Art of Tukido can help students improve their stamina, strength, flexibility and co-ordination as well as teaching basic self defence.

Each session blends cardiovascular exercise and stretching with a variety of combat techniques.

Classes are structured to include an essential warm-up involving cardio, abdominal and dynamic/static stretching exercises, followed by basic Martial Art movements which become more technically challenging as the session progresses.

Instructor Andrew Newall said: “Your body gets an all-over workout in one quick hour. You do not have to be fit to join, but your fitness will definitely improve with regular classes.

“Physical benefits of training can improve your psychological well-being also. Feeling fitter and less tired means you have more energy and feel better in general.

“And gradings give students an opportunity of setting goals to work towards a higher belt level. Anyone is more than welcome to come along and try out a class or two with no obligation to join.”

Contact Andrew on 07825 650456 or find the club on Facebook of you wish to join.
