Motherwell man stole purse from coffee shop

A man used a stolen bank card to buy meat in two Motherwell supermarkets.

John Haley, 39, was placed under supervision for a year and ordered to attend addiction services when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.

He admitted stealing a purse from Costa Coffee in Brandon Parade South while on bail on May 30.

Haley, who lives in Windmillhill Street, Motherwell, also admitted using the stolen bank card to buy meat at the town’s Aldi and Asda stores.

He will also be electronically tagged for five months, meaning he can’t leave his home between 7pm and 7am each day.
