Motherwell keeper joins Ayr on emergency loan

Motherwell goalkeeper PJ Morrison has joined Ayr United on a very short-term emergency loan deal.

The Championship club have brought in the 23-year-old on an initial seven-day loan, with the option to extend, after injury cut short Viljami Sinisalo's loan spell from Aston Villa.

Morrison, who will compete with Peter Urminsky for the jersey at Somerset Park, has been at Motherwell since he was 11 and has moved through the ranks.

He has previously experienced first-team football during loan spells with Clyde, Albion Rovers, Cowdenbeath and, most recently, Falkirk.

Ayr boss David Hopkin has moved swiftly to bring in the young keeper (SNS Group)

Ayr manager David Hopkin told Ayr's website: "Losing Vil is a big blow but we have moved swiftly to get PJ in and thank Motherwell for their cooperation in allowing him to join us.

"We worked tirelessly for the last 48 hours since knowing the extent of Vil's injury.

"PJ is a young goalkeeper that has a very bright future and he has already had plenty of first-team action and clean sheets this season."
