Motherwell handed home tie in Europa League qualifying draw

Motherwell have been handed a home tie against either Northern Ireland's Glentoran or HB Torshavn of the Faroe Islands in the first round of Europa League qualifying.

Glentoran and Torshavn will face off in a preliminary round tie on Thursday August 20, with the Steelmen welcoming the victors to Fir Park a week later on August 27.

All qualifying ties are played over a single leg, so the Steelmen will have home advantage.

However, UEFA last week revealed special rules will be applicable to the qualifying phase and play-offs for 2020/21 season amidst the Covid-19 outbreak.

This could see teams forced to forfeit the game if a visiting team is not allowed to enter Scotland in line with government travel advice.

If Motherwell can negotiate the first round tie, round two of qualifying will be played on September 17, with the draw for that held on August 31.
