Motherwell fight back to draw with Hamilton in Lanarkshire Derby clash

New signing Ricki Lamie earned Motherwell a draw in a Lanarkshire Derby bounce game with Hamilton this afternoon.

Both sides had a host of new recruits on show in the behind closed doors clash with Jake Hastie, Nathan McGinley and Jordan White getting a run out for the Steelmen, while Accies fielded their three summer acquisitions, Callum Smith, Charlie Trafford and Ross Callachan.

Motherwell were keen to respond to a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Rangers on Wednesday night and it was the hosts who broke the deadlock.

Liam Donnelly opened the scoring for Stephen Robinson's side after 41 minutes when he headed home from Liam Polworth's corner to the near post.

But Accies turned the game on its head with a goal either side of the half-time whistle.

They drew level just before the break when Scott McMann's low drive beat Trever Carson and in 57 minutes Ogkmpoe's looping header put the visitors in front.

Twenty minutes from time, the Steelmen levelled things up when another Polworth corner caused problems and Lamie headed home from 12 yards.

It was a good work out for both sides in what is Brian Rice's final preparation match ahead of their opening Scottish Premiership clash with Celtic.

Motherwell now face Rangers on Tuesday, which will be the second meeting between the two in the space of a week.

They open their Scottish Premiership campaign on Monday, August 3 away to Ros County, while Accies head to champions Celtic on August 2.
