Motherwell fans keen to see Nottingham Forest's Gboly Ariyibi remain at Fir Park

Motherwell fans would be keen to see Gboly Ariyibi remain at Fir Park beyond the end of the season.

The American winger has excelled while on loan in Scotland but will return to parent club Nottingham Forest after the final day clash with Livingston on May 18.

Despite having a year remaining on his City Ground contract, it’s unlikely the 24-year-old will have a future in the East Midlands, and judging by the strength of feeling north of the border, fans would like to see his stay extended.

In his 15 outings for The Well thus far, Ariyibi has scored twice, with his first at Fir Park coming in the enthralling 4-3 win over Dundee on Saturday – though he did endure a mixed afternoon, giving away a penalty in the first half.

His only other strike came in the 4-1 defeat to champions-elect Celtic back in late February.

Since joining Forest from Chesterfield in January 2017, the winger has failed to make a first team start, instead being restricted to Under-23 outings, as well as loan spells at MK Dons and Northampton before moving to the Scottish Premiership.
