Motherwell confirm Stephen Robinson interview for Northern Ireland job

Motherwell have confirmed that Stephen Robinson is in the running for the Northern Ireland job.

The Scottish Premiership club announced on Wednesday that they had "reluctantly" given Robinson permission to interview for the international post.

The Fir Park side said on Twitter: "We have reluctantly given Stephen Robinson permission to interview for the vacant Northern Ireland job.

"We have expressed in the strongest possible terms to Stephen that we want him to remain with Motherwell."

Robinson is believed to be one of four candidates in the running to replace Michael O'Neill as Northern Ireland boss.

The others are former St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright, current Northern Ireland Under 21 boss Ian Baraclough and Irish FA Elite Performance Director Jim Magilton.

It is understood interviews are being conducted today and tomorrow with a decision expected before the weekend.

The interview panel is comprised of Irish FA chief executive Patrick Nelson, president David Martin, chairman Gerry Mallon and Neil Jardine of the Fermanagh and Western League.
