Motherwell close to signing Norwegian defender Sondre Johansen after agreeing a fee

Motherwell are close to completing a deal to sign Sondre Solholm Johansen from Mjondalen.

The Fir Park side have agreed a nominal fee with the Norwegian top flight side and deal is edging closer.

The 26-year-old is a physically imposing defender and Graham Alexander has been keen to reinforce his defensive options before the transfer market closes on Tuesday night.

Johansen remains in Norway and a medical still needs to be completed but other significant terms have been agreed.

Similar to Motherwell's deal to sign Finnish international Juhani Ojala, the deal may be delayed due to his visa being processed.

Johansen joined Mjondalen from Stormsgodset in 2017 and he's been a regular this season.

'Well boss Alexander was targeted recruiting players from different markets this summer and this deal represents the Fir Park sides smart decision to widen their scope.
