Motherwell boss to be interviewed for Northern Ireland job

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson will be interviewed for the vacant Northern Ireland job.

The 45-year-old is on a short-list that also includes former St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright, ex-Motherwell boss Ian Baraclough and Jim Magilton, who previously managed the nation's under-21s.

Interviews are reportedly due to take place on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

Robinson has been manager at Motherwell since 2017, while Wright is a free agent, having left St Johnstone in May.

Baraclough, who was manager at Fir Park for nine months in season 2014-15, is Northern Ireland under-21 manager, and Magilton is already elite performance director with the Irish FA.

Should Robinson get the job he will take over a side which is two games away from qualifying for the Euro 2020 finals, which will be played next year.

Northern Ireland are due to travel to Zenica to play Bosnia on October 8, with the winner up against Republic of Ireland or Slovakia on November 12 for a place in the finals.

Robinson and Northern Ireland would also open their Nations League campaign away to Romania on September 4, should he get the job.
