Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson takes blame for Liam Polworth howler in Celtic clash

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson says he will take the blame for Liam Polworth's error that led to Celtic's opener in yesterday's 4-1 defeat.

Polworth was slack with a pass to Declan Gallagher that came to the Scotland international inside his own penalty area and that led to Mohammed Elyounoussi netting, after Albian Ajeti had stolen the ball and struck the post.

However, Robinson refused to criticise the midfielder and instead heaped praise on him for his overall display.

The Fir Park boss said: "Poly gives the ball away in the area, but that's my fault because I want the boys to be brave on the ball.

"If you want them to be brave on the ball you can't hammer them every time they give the ball away."We got punished for that one.

Mothewell boss Stephen Robinson couldn't hide his frustration against Celtic (SNS Group)

"But Poly shows great character after that and dominated the midfield at times, and was excellent.

"There's a lot of positives [to take] in terms of our play [overall]."
