Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson is staying at Fir Park

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson is staying in the job, after former Fir Park gaffer Ian Baraclough was reportedly offered the vacant Northern Ireland job.

Sky Sports are reporting that the Englishman, who was Motherwell manager for nine months in season 2014-15, has been given the option of replacing Michael O'Neill following two days of interviews this week.

Former St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright was also in the frame for the job.

Should Baraclough accept the job, he will step up from Northern Ireland's under-21s and be in charge in September for matches against Romania and Norway.

That would delight Motherwell, who reluctantly gave Robinson permission to talk to his nation's FA, but desperately wanted him to stay in the job.
