Graham Alexander is determined for Motherwell to continue to build a strong relationship with their supporters.
The Fir Park side are renowned for their strong connection with the local community and Alexander wants the support to identify with the team.
Motherwell were strongly backed by a vocal away support last weekend as they recorded their first Premiership win of the season with a 2-1 win over Livingston.
Alexander’s side produced a stirring comeback as they displayed their resilience before celebrating with the travelling contingent.
“I think our team has been really good at that since I came here,” Alexander admitted. “We’ve come back from behind a few times.
“We’ve got a great attitude and spirit in the squad. The supporters certainly help that - without a doubt.
“They played their part last week against Livi and it was great to celebrate with them at the end with the team and supporters together.

“That’s what our club has to be. I think they see the effort that the players put in. They know that they won’t win every game but the will to win is always going to be there.
“How we came back last week in a real tough test to win the game shows the character of the players.
“The supporters saw that. They were still with us after half-time because they could see that we played pretty well in the first half.
“They were right behind us all through the game and we are going to need that support all the way through the season.
Motherwell’s clash with Dundee tomorrow will be their first home game in four weeks since the opening day defeat to Hibernian.
Fir Park can return to full capacity for the fixture and Alexander wants to repay the Motherwell support for their continued support.

“The progress will continue and we will have setbacks but over the course of the season, this group will improve.
“They will get fitter and they will get to know how we want to play better. The challenge for us is to have a consistent run of performances, wins and results.
“We want to repay our loyal support with wins. It’s been a great week for everybody at Motherwell after our first win last week.
“We are looking forward to having another positive week or two but we must work exceptionally hard.”
Kevin van Veen has been struggling with a slight knock in recent weeks but Motherwell will be boosted by his return to full fitness.

“He’s trained this week, which is great,” Alexander revealed. “He didn’t train all last week leading up to the last game but we wanted him involved in case we needed him for a cameo because we know that he can score goals.
“Fortunately, we didn’t have to use him. He stays in the squad but he’s more prepared to start the game which is great for us.”
