Motherwell and Scotland star Stephen O'Donnell signs new deal at Fir Park

Scotland international Stephen O'Donnell has signed a new deal at Motherwell to keep him at Fir Park until summer 2023.

The 28-year-old right-back, from Wishaw, extended his deal in January until the end of this season, but he has now put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

Fir Park boss Graham Alexander told the club website: “We’re very happy that Stephen has signed a new contract and decided to continue his career with us.

“He’s been brilliant since we came into the club both on and off the pitch.

“He’s a current and valued member of the national squad and feels he can be successful with us at Motherwell.

“We believe his best years are ahead of him and he’s a great example to others on how to be a top professional.”

O'Donnell, who started the season training with Lanarkshire rivals Hamilton, has been a key figure in the squad since since in August 2020.

He has earned 18 Scotland caps and helped the national side qualify for the European Championships this summer.
