Motherwell and Hamilton join Aberdeen and Hibs in earning slice of £2.32 million UEFA cash windfall

Lanarkshire duo Motherwell and Hamilton will earn a percentage of UEFA's £2.32 million cash pot for Scottish clubs.

European football's governing body are ready to pay out out its solidarity payments to teams not involved in the Champions League, Europa League or Europa Conference League.

It will provide an end of year boost for clubs, netting Motherwell and Hamilton around £250,000 each, according to the Daily Mail.

The funds are usually shared by UEFA around October but those due the cash injection were told last week that the money is on the way.

Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hibs, Motherwell, Ross County, St Johnstone and St Mirren are reported to be the current Premiership teams to benefit while relegated duo Hamilton and Kilmarnock will also cash in.

Funds are earmarked for clubs to spend on youth development.

Newly-promoted Dundee and Hearts don't qualify for the cash while Livingston aren't eligible because they didn’t have an accredited youth academy last term.

It's a boost for clubs after the Scottish government's decision to limit crowds to a maximum of 500 spectators earlier this month.

Premiership clubs agreed to move their winter break forward a week earlier to help ease the burden of restrictions, which are scheduled to last three weeks.

Championship, League One and League Two clubs will continue to play on.
