Motherwell and Hamilton have points taken away in Killie and St Mirren Covid row

Motherwell and Hamilton have had Premiership points taken away from them pending an appeal by Killmarnock and St Mirren over Covid rule breaches.

Motherwell were awarded two 3-0 wins against Saints and Killie after they failed to fulfil games in Paisley and Ayrshire and were found to have breached Covid protocols. Hamilton were similarly awarded a 3-0 win over St Mirren when they couldn't play their game in Paisley.

However, those have been suspended following an appeal, which the SFA judicial panel will hear on Thursday, January 14.

Both clubs were found to have infringed social distancing rules surrounding seats on buses and at team meals, with Saints players also found to have car shared to and from training.

An SFA statement read: "In accordance with JPP 14.13 a suspension tribunal has confirmed that the decisions of the sub-committee of the SPFL board sitting as a tribunal (Kilmarnock FC and St Mirren FC) are suspended pending the outcome of the appeals hearing."

An SPFL statement read: "The SPFL notes the statement by the Scottish FA, confirming the decision by the independent tribunal in respect of preliminary issues in the St Mirren and Kilmarnock appeals.

"The SPFL notes that the appeals will be heard on January 14 2021 and, in accordance with the tribunal's decision, will update the Premiership table pending the outcome of the appeals process."

The Premiership table has been updated in accordance with the suspension, which leaves Hamilton in 11th place, just a point ahead of Ross County, while Motherwell have dropped from sixth to 10th, just two points ahead of Accies.
