Motherwell 2 Rangers 4 as Tavernier edges to century, powers of recovery again - 3 things we learned

Rangers recovered from an early setback to pick up victory over Motherwell at Fir Park.

Michael Beale has yet to taste defeat in the league with his Light Blues side showing their powers of recovery on more than one occasion since his arrival at the club as Giovanni van Bronckhorst's replacement. It is a trait he will admire in his troops but one he won't want to see over and over again as Kevin van Veen fired the hosts ahead after just three minutes.

Skipper James Tavernier then grabbed his 98th goal for the club to level things up before Fashion Sakala had turned the game on its head inside the opening minute of the first half. But Stuart Kettlewell's men levelled just before the hour mark after Bevis Mugabi capitalised on some poor defending by the visitors to level things up at 2-2.

However, minutes later Todd Cantwell fired his first goal for Rangers before Malik Tillman climbed off the bench to net a stunner with Scotland squad keeper Liam Kelly left with no chance. Here's three things we learned from the lunchtime thriller.

Powers of recovery

How many times have we seen Michael Beale's side recover from going behind.

It's an excellent trait to have in the locker but you'd image it is something the Rangers boss would like to avoid.

Kevin van Veen pounced at Fir Park after just three minutes to fire the hosts ahead.

But James Tavernier and Fashion Sakala turned the game on its head before Bevis Mugabi levelled.

However, Todd Cantwell and Malik Tillman added to the tally for the visitors to secure all three points in a thriller.

Big chance

Ridvan Yilmaz was handed a big chance with Borna Barisic unavailable to face Motherwell.

The big money summer signing struggled in the early part of his Rangers career to dispose of the Croatian but he did impress in a Champions League outing and domestic game as he looked like he would get a run in the team before injury struck.

The long-term absentee was handed a run out against Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup last week as he continues his return to full fitness and he got another 70 minutes under his belt today.

Could this be the kick-start his Ibrox career needs to get it up and running?

Time will tell!

The big 100

James Tavernier is now just TWO goals away from hitting the 100 mark for Rangers.

The skipper curled home an excellent free-kick past Liam Kelly to bring his side level at Fir Park after falling behind early.

The full-back has proved an incredible piece of business and a return of 98 goals from right-back is nothing short of sensational.

You wouldn't rule out the captain from hitting the big century mark before the end of the campaign!
