'Motherf*****' - What Bruno Fernandes said to Scott McTominay after Manchester United goal vs West Ham

Scott McTominay's goal in the first half of extra-time fired Manchester United into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup as they eliminated West Ham on Tuesday night.

The United midfielder found the net for the third successive game to take his goal tally for the season to seven in all competitions.

The goal was a well-taken one, with McTominay arriving on the edge of the box before volleying home after being teed up by Marcus Rashford.

McTominay wheeled off in celebration, with his teammates in hot pursuit, before Rashford commended the Scott for his 'brilliant' finish. Bruno Fernandes was less orthodox in his praise, saying: "Hey, that ball was for me, motherf*****," suggesting that Rashford's cut-back was intended for him instead.

It was no doubt a tongue-in-cheek exchange, with Fernandes having previously praised McTominay's new-found scoring ability after his quickfire brace against Leeds United earlier in the season.

Commenting on McTominay's Instagram profile at the time, Fernandes said: "Football is really strange. Well done Scottynaldinho."

The pair clearly have a good relationship and McTominay was effusive in his praise of Fernandes last March, just weeks after the Portugal international had joined United from Sporting Lisbon.

He said: "He's very demanding, he's a No.10 who wants the ball, but he's been a breath of fresh air. He's got a personality and that's what this football club needs, he has that in abundance."
