Mothercare says returns are no longer being accepted as it warns of online delays

Mothercare customers are being warned of online delays as the website continues to trade 48-hours after its collapse.

Administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) said it's urging customers to 'bear with' the company in the interim, while they review the company's assets.

Right now, the website continues to operate as normal, with online orders still being honoured - however this is likely to change in the near future.

It said online transactions are being delivered as normal, however there may be some delays.

Speaking on gift cards, it said vouchers are continuing to be accepted, however only Mothercare branded ones, with 'third party' vouchers, such as Love to Shop cards, no longer being accepted.

The auditor told Mirror Money the website is still trading - and accepting orders, while stock levels are being reviewed.

This includes stores - which remain open in the interim, and are still 'open for business'.

Where's my online order?

Speaking on online orders, the chain said there may be delays with enquiries and orders for the 'first few days'.

It comes after one Mirror reader, Martyn told us he was told us he was left without answers after being told his order had been "delayed".

"I placed an order on Monday morning using a gift card for click and collect. This should have been available for collection today but is now showing as delayed," he said.

"I contacted Mothercare's customer services who advised this is due to the company going into administration.

"When asked if I would get my items or whether the money would be kept by them, they told me there was nothing they could do."

Mirror Money asked PwC what customers should do if their orders are affected.

In response, it said online transactions are being delivered as normal, however there may be some delays.

Returns no longer being accepted

Administrators have also said that as of Thursday November 7, standard returns are no longer being accepted.

"The joint administrators are currently reviewing the returns policy. As of today, statutory returns policy only applies," a comment explained.

Your statutory rights are your minimum guaranteed rights under the law, so they always apply and overrule the retailer’s store policy.

The law states that a retailer must offer a full refund if an item is faulty, not as described or doesn't do what it’s supposed to.

All other refunds, returns and exchanges, are at the company's discretion. As of Thursday, Mothercare is no longer accepting returns outside of its core legal obligations.

If you've a problem with your order, you can get in touch with the company's administration hotline on: 02890 415 520.
