Mother who slept in her bed with her children has them taken away by judge

A mother who allowed her children to sleep in her bed with her has had them taken away by a judge.

The two boys, who are aged under four, have been put up for adoption, after social workers raised concerns after finding bruises on their bodies.

Judge Peter Greene said the mother, who has not been named, failed to act on advice given against “co-sleeping” and outlined his verdict at a private hearing in Cambridgeshire.

In his conclusion Judge Greene said the older boy’s leg was bruised when he was a few months old and although it is likely to be unintentional it was due to “excessive force” and “rough” handling by both parents, according to the Telegraph.

He also added that although evidence showed the couple loved their children and would not intentionally hurt them, the children’s mother "always thinks that she knows best".

Social workers claimed the mother was ignoring advice about having her children in bed with her and also rejected any recommendations about feeding.

Judge Greene concluded adoption was the only option and that the mother was "brusque and physically forceful" with her children.
