A distraught mother has shared images of her 16-year-old son covered in blood after he was allegedly attacked by an eight-man gang wielding hammers and a metal pole.
Nicki Rogers shared the photos of her son Harry Diamond on Facebook following the assault, claiming he had been hit so hard that two of the hammers “snapped on him”.
She alleged Harry was hit six times in the head with a hammer, three times in the knee and repeatedly with an iron bar. She also alleged the group of eight men who attacked her son had been from Maidstone.
“After all this my son was worried that he would miss his GCSEs today bless him,” she wrote.
Ms Rogers claimed her son Harry had been with a group of students from his school at the time of the attack, all of whom away save three who stayed to help.
“Two years ago Harry was very ill in hospital with a rare illness which he is still battling everyday, having had a large tumour removed from his neck,” Ms Rogers told the Kent and Sussex Courier.
“We just want Harry to get well and he is currently making a very speedy recovery. He is so strong and went back to school today to study for his GCSEs,” she said on Tuesday.
Kent Police said they were called to reports of a disturbance involving a large group of people at Tonbridge Park on Sunday at 6:56pm, but officers who attended the scene were unable to locate anyone reported to have been involved.
At 7:17pm on the same day it was reported to police that a teenage boy had been treated for injuries at a local hospital and that the boy had been assaulted in the parl.
Detective Chief Inspector Neill Parker police are continuing to investigate whether or not these incidents may be linked.
“Regardless, incidents of this nature are very rare in Tonbridge, but any violence on our streets will not be tolerated,” he added.
“We are carrying out a number of enquiries including reviewing CCTV,” he said, and called for any members of the public with information about the attack to get in touch with police.
