Mother's birth selfie goes viral thanks to husband pictured flat on the floor in the background

A selfie of a mother which she took moments after labour has gone viral after her partner was pictured collapsed on the floor in the background.

In the photo, the unnamed mother beams at the camera while lying down on an operating table wearing a blue surgical cap.

Despite a tiring labour, she is clearly delighted to welcome their new addition into the world.

Towards the back of the scene, three medics – one holding their newborn baby – gather round a man on the floor.

Apaprently overwhelmed by the delivery experience, he is seen lying flat on his back, dressed in full length scrubs.

The photo was uploaded to Instagram with the caption: “He was here to encourage his wife at her First Childbirth 😂”

The images has since been liked thousands of times on line.

One social media user wrote: “That dude will never live this down.”

While another added: "Omg lmao poor guy had no idea what he was in for."

One person tagged their friend in the post and said: “This would be you."

One however believed the photo had been staged and simply wrote “fake”.

Another alluded to the upcoming US presidential elections and said: “And people wonder if women should be president.”
