- A mother is appealing for people to join the stem cell register to find a cure for her one-year-old son, Ronnie, who was diagnosed with a rare blood condition.
- Ronnie was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia, a severe condition where bone marrow fails to produce enough new blood cells, after his mother noticed increased bruising when he began crawling.
- Initially suspected to have leukaemia, doctors later confirmed aplastic anaemia, stating that a bone marrow transplant is Ronnie's only hope for a cure.
- The family is working with the charity Anthony Nolan on the “Register4Ronnie” campaign to encourage more people to join the stem cell register.
- Joining the Anthony Nolan register is free, aimed at people aged 16-30, and involves registering online and returning a swab pack.
