Mother of bride's outfit leaves people baffled as they question if it's 'lingerie'

Wedding guests must all obey hidden rules on a person's wedding day. It includes never outshining the bride on her special day and most definitely never wearing white.

However, a mother of the bride has left people baffled with her wedding outfit for her daughter's big day, which goes against the norms of a wedding guest. Taking to Reddit, a woman shared a photo of an anonymous mum's questionable fit that has sparked a huge debate amongst users online.

While some question whether the outfit is lingerie - others claim that they see "no problem" with the parent's formal dress.

The Redditor shared a photo of the mum's outfit, which included a dress with sheer grey lace from the waist up and complimented with a corset design.

The chest featured a sweetheart and strapless neckline where straps were accessorised to hang below the shoulders.

While admitting that the dress was "beautiful", the user online wasn't convinced that it was suitable for a bride's mother.

The user captioned their post alongside the photo: "Beautiful dress but... for a mother of the bride... I don't know about that."

The question sparked a debate amongst users. While the dress raised a few eyebrows for some - others were conflicted.

One person said: "Well, first, it looks like lingerie. Second, it's so silvery it looks white. And third, not sure what kind of wedding it is but looks very formal."

"No way it looks too much like a wedding dress in colour and style," a second added.

A different user wrote: "This lingerie-looking corset is perfect for my almost-white, bridal-style dress to someone else's wedding. They'll love seeing that in their pictures in years to come."

Meanwhile, another user shared a differing opinion: "Generally, a bride will help their mums choose an outfit for the wedding, so if the bride was cool with it then no worries."

A second added: "It's a bit much in my opinion but if the bride is on with it then no problems with it.

"I can totally see if the bride is wearing more over the top e.g. huge ballgown or black or something non-traditional how this could work."
