A mother-of-two was left unable to talk after suffering a stroke - which she noticed after getting a headache while drinking Champagne.
Kerry Tate said she had not known what was wrong when she first became unwell in May 2021.
After suffering with headaches for years, she was initially unconcerned after developing a headache on a Saturday evening.
However, she woke up on the following Wednesday morning completely unable to talk.
After using pen and paper to notify her family, the mum-of-two was taken to hospital, where a CT scan confirmed she had suffered a bleed on the brain, Yorkshire Live reports.
It was discovered she had been born with an 'arterial malformation' (AVM), which led to her having a stroke.
Kerry has since undergone gamma knife surgery and begun speech therapy, but there is a long journey ahead of her.
Doctors have hailed the surgery a success. However, Kerry will need a check up in four years' time to see if the AVM has been totally eradicated.
Kerry, who works as Head of Marketing at Capita, is also looking forward to returning to work soon alongside her colleagues, who have supported her throughout.
She hopes that by sharing her experience she can help make people aware "a stroke can happen to anyone."
