Mother denies knowledge of son's mental health concerns in court

Donald Trump Fulton County Court Continues Court Business in Trump Documents Case

In a recent courtroom trial, Jennifer Crumbly, the mother of Ethan Crumbly, the shooter in the tragic Oxford High School shooting of 2021, took the stand to testify in her defense. Her testimony shed light on her interactions with her son on various occasions leading up to the incident.

During her testimony, Jennifer discussed a text message exchange between her and Ethan on March 9th, the day before the shooting took place. Ethan had sent her alarming messages, stating that someone had entered their house and made strange noises. In response, Jennifer explained that she was unable to check her phone while driving home from the barn. She further clarified that the texts were likely a result of Ethan messing around and not an indication of any mental health issues.

Jennifer also addressed a text message exchange from March 20th, when she was again at the barn. Ethan sent her messages claiming that strange things were happening, such as clothes falling off shelves. Jennifer maintained that these incidents were nothing more than Ethan's attempt to play pranks on his parents.

The prosecution later introduced text messages from April 4th between Ethan and his friend. In these messages, Ethan mentioned hearing voices, struggling with insomnia, and expressing a desire to seek medical help. However, Jennifer testified that she was not aware of these messages until the trial and had never had any conversations with her son about similar concerns.

Jennifer clarified that she had never dismissed Ethan's requests for help or laughed at his struggles. She insisted that she had no knowledge of his mental health issues or the content of his conversations with his friend.

The defense's argument appeared to be centered around portraying Ethan's past texts as harmless pranks rather than signs of a troubled mind. Jennifer testified that she believed her son was simply playing with his parents, echoing a pattern of lighthearted teasing in their household.

The trial continues as the defense presents their case, focusing on the assertion that Ethan's actions were not a premeditated act motivated by mental health concerns. The jury will ultimately decide Jennifer Crumbly's role and responsibility in the events that unfolded at Oxford High School.
