Mother carries baby without brain to term to donates organs saying goodbye

A mother who carried her baby for the duration of the pregnancy despite the fact that it had no brain has said goodbye to her newborn.

Keri Young and her husband Royce were informed of the child's condition by a doctor, in February.

Despite their grief, Ms Young decided to continue with the pregnancy and gave birth to their daughter, who they had named Eva , in order to donate her organs to other babies in need.

“I was a spectator to my own life, watching a superhero find her superpowers," Mr Young wrote on Facebook after his wife made the decision. “In literally the worst moment of her life, finding out her baby was going to die, it took her less than a minute to think of someone else and how her selflessness could help.”

After Eva was born two months Mr Young posted a picture of her alongside the couple and their son. She died shortly afterwards.

“We said hello and goodbye to our sweet Eva yesterday," he wrote. "She was so perfect in her own little way.”

Hundreds of people commented on the post expressing both grief and gratitude to the couple from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

One wrote: “That courage and is the most humane gesture I've ever seen in my life”.

Another said: “Thank you and your wonderful & brave wife for trying to turn a family tragedy into a blessing for others.”
