A mother and son who died after entering a river in west London have now been named.
Hamdi Ali, 34, and Ibrahim Mohamed, 7, were pulled from the water of the River Brent in Elthorne Park, Hanwell at around 4.30pm on Saturday.
Emergency services gave the pair treatment, but they both died at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police said it believed the incident was not suspicious, but a "tragic accident".
Their family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, and a force spokesperson requested that their privacy be respected.
One witness has described how the tragedy unfolded, with Ali following Ibrahim into the river after he had jumped in.
They told The Sun: “In a matter of seconds he had run away from his mum and had jumped into the water. He looked hot and jumped in.
“His mum then followed him and they were struggling as the currents were too strong. The water is very deep.”
The mother and son lived locally, with Ibrahim attending the nearby Castle Bar Primary School, a special school for children with complex needs such as learning difficulties and autism.
Head teacher Jon Bailey said that pupils and staff were shocked and saddened by the deaths.
Bailey said: "This is an unimaginably distressing time for everyone involved, and our thoughts are with the family and all those affected.
"The school is working closely with Ealing Council and other organisations to ensure that support is in place for our whole school community.”
Ealing Council's chief executive Tony Clements said: "I know people in the local community and the school have been shocked by this awful accident.
"Council staff will provide support to the family and the school as required and our thoughts are with the family during this incredibly difficult time."
