Three people were taken to hospital after their vehicle was badly damaged following a hit and run car crash on Penlan Common.
Emergency services were called to Mynydd Newydd common in Swansea on Tuesday evening, close to the junction with Roger Street, following the incident which left a mother and her 18-month baby unconscious, and the driver of the vehicle trapped inside.
Two occupants of the car which smashed into them, which is believed to have been stolen, then made off despite pleas from the trapped driver for help.
The baby remains in Morriston Hospital where it will undergo an MRI scan today, after being left unable to move it's side.
Sarah Barnard, mother of Courtney Kent, aged 20, and grandmother of 18-month old Theo who were left unconscious following the incident, said: "We'd been out in town with Courtney's friend Jordanna Barnett. I'd come home early as I thought I had to work, although it turned out I didn't, and the girls stayed in town to have something to eat.
"They were coming up from town from Treboeth towards Penlan.
"After they were hit, Jordanna was screaming out the windows at the boys from the other car that there was a baby in the car, and they needed help, but they just ran away.
"Jordanna, who is 19, needed to be cut out of the car, and Courtney had to have her head glued and nearly bit her tongue in half. Baby Theo has got a bleed on the brain and no movement on one side - he's not able to move his right arm or leg. We are waiting on an MRI scan today to see what it is.
"I feel guilty for coming home early, otherwise they would not have travelled the route they did".

Jordanna, who is godmother to her friend's baby, had to be cut free from the vehicle by firefighters, who assisted paramedics with casualty care.
A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said they were called to the incident just before 6.42pm, and added: We responded with two ambulances and three patients were transported to Morriston Hospital.”
South Wales Police, meanwhile, are appealing for information to trace the two males who left the scene.
