CHACHOENGSAO: A 28-year-old woman and her lover, 52, were arrested after she allegedly had her 5-year-old daughter service the man sexually in exchange for 200-300 baht a time in cash and goods.

Ms Supalak (surname withheld) and Winai Promthongsuk were apprehended in tambon Nong Yao on Sunday night and later shown at a media briefing at Phanom Sarakham police station.

Pol Col Kriangkrai Boonson, deputy chief of Chachoengsao police, said residents filed a complaint with the local Damrongtham centre, alleging sexual abuse of a child.

During the interrogation, Mr Winai had confessed to having abused a girl aged 5 years, sent to him by her mother in exchange for cash and other items. The incidents occurred in deserted side streets or hotels, according to Pol Col Kriangkrai.

Mr Winai was also romantically involved with the girl’s mother, he said.

According to police, each time the woman sent her daughter to service the suspect she was paid 200-300 baht in cash and goods.

Police charged Ms Supalak with forcing a girl to provide sex services, and illegal detention. Mr Winai was charged with sexually abusing a child of 13 years or less who was not his wife, and indecency with a child aged 15 years or less, even with her consent, Thai media reported.

Mr Winai was allegedly using a sex toy on the child in the bed of a pickup truck when he was arrested in tambon Nong Yao, Phanom Sarakham district, on Sunday night.

Arresting officers seized a dildo, a vibrator, a tube of jelly and a blanket as evidence. The child's mother was arrested later that night.

The pair were held in custody at Phanom Sarakham police station for legal action. The young girl was admitted to a child care home for rehabilitation treatment.
