MOTD pundit accuses Marcelo Bielsa being out thought by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford

Marcelo Bielsa has been accused of being outthought by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in Leeds United's heavy defeat to Manchester United.

The Whites were on the end of a 6-2 loss in the eagerly-anticipated clash at Old Trafford, finding themselves 2-0 down after three minutes as the hosts made a lightning start to the game.

Whilst Leeds did create chances, they were also porous in defence against a fast-paced Man United attack.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Dion Dublin felt Bielsa should have changed tactics when it was clear that Man United had the run of the game.

He said: "Solskjaer outthought Bielsa on this occasion. We know how Leeds like to attack but they decided to go man-to-man again, against a Manchester United side that were ready for them.

"They got it right today, Manchester United. The energy levels were good. They were ready for the squeeze. The ball goes long, where Manchester United want it to go and they wait, and they wait and they wait for the right time to squeeze. They go in packs.

"Then they just got forward. Red shirts, three on three. How can you play like that against Manchester United when they are on it at Old Trafford?"

He added: "Leeds went man-to-man but Ole knew it would happen and he knew where to put Bruno Fernandes. Not into areas he was going to hurt but where other players could hurt them in behind.

"If you are going to get hurt once, twice, three times, surely you change it? Not Bielsa. He allowed this to happen and happen and Manchester United just said ‘okay, fair enough, we have worked on this on the training ground. We don’t mind’."

Former England defender Micah Richards agreed with Dublin that Bielsa got his tactics wrong.

Pointing to the performance of Kalvin Phillips, Richards said the holding midfielder had no support from his teammates - and he warned that this will not be the last time Leeds are exposed.

He said "You see the space. Phillips, who I am a big admirer of, got left alone today. He had no help from his teammates. Look at the space McTominay can run into. It kept happening. They didn’t learn. Look at the space.

"Against anyone who is having a good day, they will get exposed and Manchester United did it today.

"The three up front were electric. "
