Most Watched TV Shows of the 2010s revealed and there are a few surprises

As we enter a brand new decade, the most watched TV shows of the last 10 years have been revealed, with a few surprises on there.

As big as they have been for ITV , there is now place on the list for any episodes of either I'm A Celebrity or Britain's Got Talent and all of the soaps are missing in action.

The top 10, as you might expect, is largely dominated by sporting events, with just two non-sport broadcasts on the list. One of those is the 2010 final of The X Factor and the other is a programme that aired very recently - the Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special.

The return of the much loved BBC sitcom blew all other competition away to top the , well ahead of nearest rival The Queen's Speech and it has made the best of 2010s list at number 9.

The top 10 in full is as follows:

1. Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony (BBC1) - 24.5million

2. Olympics 2012 Opening Ceremony (BBC1) - 24.2million

3. World Cup 2018 Croatia v England (ITV) - 20.7million

4. Euro 2012 England v Italy (BBC1) - 20.3million

5. X Factor Results 2010 (ITV) - 17.7million

6. World Cup 2018 Sweden v England (BBC1) - 17.4million

7. Olympics 2012: Men's 100m Final (BBC1) - 17.3million

8. World Cup 2018 Columbia v England (ITV) - 17.2 million

9. Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special 2019 (BBC1) - 17.1million

10. World Cup 2018 England v Tunisia (BBC1) - 16.9million
