Perimeter Institute, in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada is a leading centre for scientific research, training and educational outreach in foundational theoretical physics. Amongst many other things, it runs a high profile monthly public lecture series, and this month’s lecture (today, 1 April, no not an April fool) I will be the lecturer. I’ll be talking, from a personal point of view, about the discovery of the Higgs boson and what we might learn next as the Large Hadron Collider at CERN prepares to restart at even higher energies. (Back on track as of yesterday!)

A recording of the lecture appears below:

During the live webcast, a panel of Perimeter Institute physicists will answer questions and provide commentary in the live chat window which you can find here. The panel will also be available for 30 minutes after the talk finishes to answer any questions you may have.

Jon Butterworth has written a book about this, Smashing Physics, available here, and in Canada & the US as “Most Wanted Particle”. Other events where you might be able to hear him talk about it are listed here. Also, Twitter.
